Terry M. Magady


Terry Magady received his J.D. from the University of Southern California, his M.P.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and his B.A. from Occidental College.

He is certified as a specialist in elder law by the National Elder Law Foundation, the organization authorized by the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California to offer specialty certification in the area of elder law, and he was selected as a member of the Council of Advanced Practitioners, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys’ designation for the most highly regarded elder law attorneys in the country

Terry has been the Chairman of the Elder Law Committee of the Trusts & Estates Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association for many years and is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, as well as the Los Angeles County Personal Assistance Services Council, which oversees the county’s In-Home Supportive Services program, and the Los Angeles County Adult Day Health Care Planning Council, which oversaw the county’s Adult Day Health Care Center program.

Terry is a recipient of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Board of Governor’s Award and the Etta Israel Center Leadership Award for inclusion on behalf of people with disabilities.

A frequent speaker at legal and other professional seminars, Terry has presented or moderated many California Education of the Bar (CEB) statewide programs, including those entitled “Fundamentals of Elder Law Practice,” “Public Benefits in Estate Planning” and “Advanced Elder Law with Terry Magady.”

Among many other publications, Terry is an author of chapters entitled “Planning to Stay at Home” and “Government Benefits and Resources” in the California Education of the Bar (CEB) treatise California Elder Law Resources, Benefits and Planning: An Advocate’s Guide and “Estate Planning for Persons with Disabilities” in the California Education of the Bar (CEB) treatise Special Needs Trust: Planning, Drafting and Administration.
