Trisha Friedeberg was a deeply respected attorney, mentor, and advocate within the
California legal community. As a partner at Kato, Feder and Suzuki, LLP in San Francisco,
Ms. Friedeberg focused her practice on conservatorships, trust and probate
administration and litigation, special needs trusts, long-term care planning, and estate
planning. She represented both professional and non-professional fiduciaries, as well as
interested third parties, with unwavering professionalism, compassion, and integrity.
Ms. Friedeberg was known for her intellectual rigor and deep empathy, a rare and
powerful combination. She provided more than legal representation; she guided
families through some of their most difficult legal and emotional decisions, always
prioritizing the well-being of the individuals at the center of each case.
Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional practice. She volunteered
extensively with organizations that serve older adults and individuals with disabilities,
including the Seniors at Home Program at Jewish Family and Children’s Services, where
she provided legal guidance to those in need of support and planning assistance.
A graduate of the University of California, Davis and the University of San Francisco
School of Law, Ms. Friedeberg was admired by her peers for her dedication to justice,
her mentorship of younger attorneys, and her tireless advocacy for vulnerable
populations.
The Trisha Friedeberg Scholarship was established to honor her legacy and values. It
supports law students and early-career attorneys passionate about disability rights,
public benefits, and conservatorship law, fields that Ms. Friedeberg advanced with
excellence, compassion, and vision throughout her career.
