Deborah Ballins Schwarz, her daughter, Kristen E. Schwarz, and her son, Phillip A. Schwarz, practice in a boutique law firm that focuses on the needs of seniors and the disabled, bringing with her over 37 years of experience as a lawyer. The practice focuses on planning and collaboration of resources for our special needs community. It also provides comprehensive analysis for long term care needs, customized estate planning, and assessment of government benefits, including Veteran’s Benefits and namely Medi-Cal. Because of Deborah’s extensive litigation background, she also handles contested Conservatorships with the goal of maintaining her client’s or a loved one’s dignity, should a conservatorship be necessary to protect them.
Deborah graduated from Loyola Law School and was a member of the Law Review. She was admitted to practice in 1978, and received her LLM degree in taxation from Loyola Law School in 2008. Deborah is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law by the State Bar of California; and is a VA certified attorney. She was also named Top Attorney in Probate, Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning by the Pasadena Magazine from 2012-2016.
Deborah is a member of Pasadena Christ Child Society; sits on the Advisory Board of Directors for the Planned Giving Committee of the Los Angeles Archdiocese; is a member of Pasadena ProVisors; is a past president of the San Gabriel Valley Estate Planning Council; is a past Trustee of the Pasadena Bar Association; and, also is a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners; Elder Counsel, and the Academy of VA Pension Planners.
